One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my grandchildren. I feel a special warmth inside myself when I can set outside and watch them explore nature, run, laugh and giggle. They are so curious and innocent. Precious is the word I use to describe them.
Their sweet little kisses on my cheek are part of the joy of being in a family where we are connected. There is a strong bond between us. Building a close relationship with them is a treasure. Building those relationships is and will be a life time endeavor I am committed to pursuing. I want to bring closeness, safety and trust to the relationships. When they come to me with questions I am honest, gentle and sincere.
- What sort of brother/sister, son/daughter. uncle/auntie do you want to be?
- What personal qualities would you like to bring to those relationships?
- What sort of relationships would you like to build?
- How would you interact with others if you were the ideal you in your family relationships?

One of the issues I struggle with is balance between family and work. Balance was my commitment to myself for my new years resolution. I am still working on it.
Kathleen Barton writes about balance within the family. You can read her blog, Your Life Balance Coach for many useful tips.
